Haram : Sex, Technology and Religion in Dubai

“Haram” is a reflection on our modern society and it’s behavior toward sexuality. My vision initially manifested as a nightmare of a women wearing a burqa in a world saturated with pornographic imagery. It all began with a quote by William Gibson in “Neuromancer” : “The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.” Ultimately, I wanted to depict our society’s new trinity: religion, technology, and sex.
I used Adobe Creative suite for postproduction. Filmed with Blackmagic Pocket 4k.
Shot in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fossil Rock in February 2020. Edited during the Quarantine.

Sound Design: Lucas Ortiz
